This course introduces the principles and methods of geographic information systems (GIS). It mainly focuses on the methods of data organization, management modes, processing algorithms, spatial analysis and visualization. The applications of GIS and the trend of the international development of GIS are also introduced in this course. In addition, desktop geographic information systems(such as ArcGIS, Mapinfo, Super Map, and so on) are used as the experimental platform for practical training in this class.
